Eat, Play, Run →
I launched a new blog this weekend dedicated to eating and running in Seattle, and wherever my travels take me. I hope you’ll enjoy it. I definitely need to post more here. So, I’ll use this space for everything else that’s not eating and running related.

How Did I Get Here?
Last night I… Attended a professional women’s football game in a shithole town called Kent Went to the afterparty at Swank, “the southend’s hottest gay and lesbian bar” The football was actually kind of fun. Seattle beat Portland 35 - 7. Portland scored their touchdown with about 30 seconds left in the game. I guess, in the end, football is football. The bar was...

Cursing a Blue Streak →
I just told my friend Josh that New York must have changed me because I can no longer stop myself from cursing. I now curse so often it’s flat out embarrassing and must stop. Though, according this MSNBC article, I’m not the only one affected by Potty Mouth Syndrome.

True Story
I was in a running store with my friends’ 12-year old nephew, Xavier. “Penny Lane” is playing in the store: X: Who’s this? Me: Really? You don’t know? X: Nope Me: It’s the Beatles X: Who? Me: (Incredulous) The Beatles. One of the greatest rock bands of all-time. X: You mean like the Jonas Brothers?

Seen at Staples Center
Remember Billy Packer’s “Simon Says… Championship” call when the University of Arizona won the national championship? Last night at Staples for the opening round of the Pac 10 Tournament, Miles Simon was out front scalping tickets. The dude had a cup of coffee in the NBA and was an assistant coach under Lute Olsen. Now he’s scalping tickets? Couldn’t former...

Top Ten Reasons To Make Gay Marriage Illegal
hono-lulu: havent-got-a-prayer: growingup: 01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to...

"The Way We Were"
Growing up, the one song I heard over and over and over again was “The Way We Were.” My mom loved it, and the movie. I grew to like the song, as well. In fact, it’s on my iPod. However, I had never seen the film. It arrived from Netflix on Wednesday, and I finally watched it today. The movie is nothing like I had expected. For some reason, I thought the whole film was going to...

Full Disclosure: Body Fat Analysis, 03/03/2009
This is interesting. I’m a little lighter than Dan, but I’m guessing I’m also fatter. I’m going to dive into his site to see how he’s doing all of this. I should find a race to see where I stand, running-wise. I actually feel pretty good about my running, but without the regular races NY provided it’s hard to tell. slowdan: I did another Body Fat test...

Watchmen
I didn’t read the book. I’m looking at it right now. Warners sent it to me just prior to Christmas. I know. I suck. I should’ve read it. As for the movie. It’s not for everyone, but if you can stomach it… it’s the most R-rated movie I’ve seen in a long time… you will probably love it. Even though there are men wearing tights, it’s a serious...

I never really wanted to be a Seahawks fan. My...
It’s a rough gig being a Seahawks fan. We’re generally pretty good, but not really good. So, we tend to make the playoffs, lose early, and have a crappy first round draft pick to show for it. But after last year’s turdball, I’d be happy with just making the playoffs. Look, we had a rough year… Mariners in last place, Husky football winless, Seahawks fail to win the...

Report: T.J. joins Seahawks | Cincinnati Enquirer... →
C’mon. We owe the city of Cincinnati for stealing Griffey from us… hono-lulu: prideofboston: (via hono-lulu) Houshmandzadeh had a better shot at a championship with the Bengals…  Didn’t have much of a choice, though… They offered him the most money. I would have rather have seen him go to Minnesota :(. The Seahawks? Eff them

T.J. decision on hold | Cincinnati Enquirer |... →
We need him here in Seattle… hono-lulu: Houshmandzadeh was supposed to make a decision tonight on who hes going to play for next season but after spending 5 hours in meetings with the Vikings, hes holding off on the decision until tmrw. This suspense is killing me. The Vikings, Seahawks and Bengals all have offers on the table. ‘bites nails’…  AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Taking a Break from Facebook and Twitter
I’m done for the month of March. The upshot is that I plan to spend more time on Tumblr. Whee! (Wow, you should’ve seen the paragraphs that were here before I deleted them. I had a full conversation with myself weighing the merits of a blog idea I’ve been working on. I’ll spare you.)

Upcoming Travel Plans
I’ve been paralyzed: LA for the Pac-10 Tournament (congrats Huskies on your Pac 10 title!) or NY for fine food and friends. Now, lately, I’ve been thinking about Spring Training. Ugh. What to do? On the one hand, the Huskies are the little team that could. No NBA players on the team, yet still beating more talented teams like UCLA, Arizona and USC. They’re all heart and hustle....

a little birdie told me...
Ah, the hazards of Twitter… fairytaleofny: so last night around midnight i was in bed ready to go to sleep. then i heard this…chirp. i panicked. there was a bird in my apartment. see, i keep my bathroom window cracked open at all times to let fresh air in because there’s no exhaust fan in there and the shower steams it up like mad…and my bathroom window has no screen. so there i was in...

Kau Kau
When Laura was here, we went to Kau Kau in the International District for dinner. Kau Kau is a nothing fancy Chinese barbecue joint, the kind with the dead animals hanging in the window. It’s a sparse restaurant that hasn’t updated the tables/chairs/plates/silverware since the ’70s. But the food? So good! It’s old school Chinese barbecue. The pork… the duck…...

Mona's
Went to Greenlake tonight to meet a friend at Mona’s. She had offered up two places to meet. I took one look at the menu and jumped at Mona’s, not even looking up the other place. The place has a casual, cool vibe. We started with a wonderful duck confit. The duck was perfectly cooked. It’s truly fantastic. For my main course, I had the wild boar pappardelle. I was expecting...

Funniest Podcast Ever
I normally download the Bill Simmons BS Report podcast to my phone (the Nokia E71 rocks, by the way,) at work and listen to it on the bus ride home. Occassionally, I’ll be “that guy” on the bus who laughs out loud for no apparent reason, but I try to contain myself. Yesterday, Simmons had his pal Adam Carolla on. Oh my God, I was laughing all the way home. The poor woman siting...

Day of Rememberance
Sort of by accident, I went to the coolest event I’ve attended since moving back to Seattle. My friend Kelsey invited me to a Day of Rememberance lecture at the University of Washington, where the topic was art from the Japanese internment camps. It’s still hard to believe that in this country American citizens were forced to leave their homes and jobs and were sent to live in...

Welcome Back Junior... I Guess
I cried the day Griffey was traded. Tears running down my face crying. Lest you think I was just a kid, I was 32! But, I’m not at all excited he’s coming back. Wrong model Junior, wrong team. When I see him at Safeco Field for the first time, there’s no denying I’ll be psyched, and will probably cry again, but I really don’t want him here. These last three days are...

I Don't Want Griffey Back →
I’ve been thinking about it, the way he left Seattle, how his coming here would take AB’s from a young player in a rebuilding year. Nope. No Griffey, please. Plus, I don’t want to watch a player who left in he prime and came back half the player he once was. It would be like the Mariners of the ’80s when we signed guys like Gorman Thomas and Steve Yeager.   Reading the...

Morimoto's Take on a Burger →
I’ll never forget the time Elaine took me to Morimoto’s. Fantastic. My first foray into the NY food scene. I like his take on the hamburger here, but I think instead of wasabi mashed potatoes, he should make wasabi french fries.

Top Chef and Lost
No spoilers here, so I’ll keep it short. Wow. Great episodes last night. Actually, Battlestar Galactica has been killer, too. I’m loving my TV right now. If only ABC would bring back Eli Stone and Pushing Daisies…

Oh Alex. Yesterday I asked you to stand-up, admit it, and apologize. I just watched all 36 minutes of this ESPN interview. You did all that, and I was with you. But there are just too many times you just have to get those little moments of Alexisms in there where you’re begging to be liked. You know what? Screw people like me. Screw people like 9/10’s of the people of New York. You go...
