a little birdie told me…
Ah, the hazards of Twitter…
so last night around midnight i was in bed ready to go to sleep. then i heard this…chirp.
i panicked. there was a bird in my apartment. see, i keep my bathroom window cracked open at all times to let fresh air in because there’s no exhaust fan in there and the shower steams it up like mad…and my bathroom window has no screen.
so there i was in bed thinking of how this bird flew in my bathroom window and was now sitting a few feet from me chirping. what was i going to do?
it chirped at weird intervals. i sat very quietly and waited for a pattern but there was none. chirp…wait, wait, chirp, chirp, wait a very long time, chirp…
i decided to be brave. i got up and threw the light on. silence. i walked to the kitchen. chirp! i walked back to the chirp source. silence. the bird was on to me.
then it started a few chirps. chirp chirp chirp. clearly this bird was not afraid of me.
the chirping was coming from my desk. i moved in closer.
i scanned under my desk for signs of bird. but then i realized the chirping was coming in full force - and from atop my desk.
from my laptop.
wtf?
the laptop screen was dark but clearly still on, as i’d gone to bed not that long ago. i ran my finger over the touchpad to bring it to life…
…and saw that tweetdeck was up. it’s a twitter aggregator. and what was it doing?
every time there was a new post, it was tweeting to alert me.
those were tweets i’d been hearing- literally. not chirps.
bloody twitter.
